Prof. Colwyn Trevarthen is Professor Emeritus of Child Psychology and Psychobiology at The University of Edinburgh.
He studies infant development and how young children share imaginative play and learning.
He firmly supports high quality provision for early childhood education and care, opposing the introduction of more formal curriculum-based schooling before age 6 or 7.
