Welcome

Scotland has a long tradition of high quality early years provision. However, despite strong government policy and the knowledge that helping young children grow up well during the early years is more important and effective than investing money later, it has been difficult to implement these policies, due to a number of factors which we hope to identify.

What we do

We engage with policy makers, practitioners and parents through seminars, conferences, research and publications. Information about our current and previous work can be found on the Events and Events Archive pages.

Our recent conference on Saturday, 3 November 2018, held at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on the topic of The Natural Voice of Young Children: Making Sense of Learning Through Play, included a wide range of inspirational and informational presentations and workshops. The conference organisers would like to thank all who took part and helped to make the day so successful – many thanks to all of the presenters, outside organisations and audience members.

Colwyn Trevarthen, Jonathan Delafield-Butt and Aline-Wendy Dunlop have co-edited a book, published in September 2018, The Child's Curriculum: Working with the natural voices of young children.
